Sourcing
Every claim that has a number, status, or location attached must trace to a federal record. We cite NPPES, HRSA, CMS, and OIG by URL, and we link out for verification on every provider page.
We do not accept practitioner-submitted profile data. Provider pages are derived from public records; corrections must be filed with the upstream agency (NPPES) and will flow through on our next refresh — see methodology for cadence.
Writing & review
Provider, state, specialty, and combo pages are programmatically generated from data — no editorial copy is interpolated into provider records.
Blog and explainer content goes through a four-stage review:
- Outline — sourced against gov references before any drafting starts.
- Draft — by a named author (AI-assisted in some cases; see AI policy).
- Clinical review — for any YMYL content, a credentialed clinician (DDS, RDH, MPH) reviews and signs off.
- Publish — with author byline, reviewer name, last- reviewed date, and sources block visible on the page.
Independence
Display ads and affiliate links are clearly marked. Affiliate booking partners do not influence provider rankings; the is_public top-10 selection per (state, sub-specialty) is purely a function of the deterministic content_score formula documented in methodology.
We do not accept payment from dentists, practices, or DSOs to appear on the site, rank higher, hide negative signals (e.g. OIG exclusions, Open Payments), or remove content.
Corrections
If you find an error — a wrong specialty, an outdated address, an incorrect HPSA flag — email contact@dentalnpi.com with the URL and the suggested fix. We'll respond within five business days.
Substantive corrections are logged in the page's last-reviewed stamp. Cosmetic fixes (typos, layout) are not stamped.
Takedown requests
We display only verifiable public-record data, so takedown requests are usually best routed to the upstream agency. We will, however, remove pages where the public record itself is wrong or where there is a documented privacy / safety concern. Email contact@dentalnpi.com.
Conflicts of interest
DentalNPI is operated by an independent editorial team. No staff member holds an active dental license currently in clinical practice or has financial interest in any dental practice listed on the site.
